Ephesians 4:4-12
v4-6
-
We all are united under the “list of ones” that Paul gives us.
-
Despite the differences in all of our lives we are united in these “ones.”
v7-8
-
Our gifts are not dependent on our worthiness, but rather His grace.
v11-12
-
The gifts are given to build Christ's Church – so that it's members will be fully equipped to carry out God's calling in their lives. We are all called to be ministers/servants.
-
Evangelist – a church planter or missionary
-
Pastor – A Shepard, Christ being the example of the perfect Shepard of the Church
-
ref: 1 Peter 5 – Serve willingly, serve eagerly; acting on the desires God has put in your heart.
Is your desire to follow Christ in your own life?

Acts 1:6-9 - “Your mission.”
v6 - Why are they asking “at this time?”
-
Jesus just rose from the dead.
-
They want to know when is this Heaven on Earth they have heard about is going to happen?
v7 – Jesus wants them to keep their focus.
-
His business vs our business.
v8 – What they are (you are) to focus on.
-
“But ye” - contrasts the things of God vs the things they (you) are to be concerned with.
-
Distractions to our focus: Posessions, Politics, Hobbies, Jobs, Families, etc..
-
Your (singular, personal) priority is to go into all the world and spread the Gospel.
-
There is no exemption from this command for those who are saved.
-
You receive the power through the Holy Ghost … God goes with you wherever you are.
v9 – They have a mission yet to accomplish
-
This is the reason He is ascending and they are left standing.
Our mission field is wherever we are. Start at home, then to work and then to all the world.
The responsibility doesn't lie on the shoulders of Christianity in general, but the Christian in person.
Why stand ye looking up into Heaven?

1 Peter 4:7 – We must pray.
We need to pray because of our Adversary:
-
“But the end of all things is at hand...” - The return of Christ is near. We must pray because His return reminds us that there are many on the threshold of hell.
-
Ref: Revelation 3:14-16 - A great danger to the church is mediocrity. Taking for granted all that God has given us. Increase in toleration of sin. - If that is the case then ultimately we have become mediocre as individuals.
-
When is the last time you asked God to revive your zeal for Him?
We need to pray because of our Ability:
-
You (the Christian) have been granted access to pray to God.
-
We are limited in our ability, we must be dependent on God.
We MUST pray!
What to pray for:
-
Charlotte NC Community– Pastors, Churches, Police
-
Vicar's Chapel – revive us, stir up zeal within us, “start with you (me)”, use us

1 John 5 - “The Gospel is God's testimony”
v6-8
-
By water and by blood - "Book ends of of Jesus work on Earth."
-
By water - Jesus' baptism
-
By blood - Jesus' crucifixion (ref: John 19)
v9
-
Man's word is less than God's word.
-
How much more trustworthy is God's testimony, when everyday we take men at their word.
v10
-
The gospel demands an answer.
-
Acceptance or Rejection – only possible answers.
-
Christian, you can't keep “all this stuff” while declaring God's truth.
v11
-
“No man can come to the Father but by Me (Jesus)”
-
This is an absolute.
v12
-
If you don't have Jesus Christ, then you don't have eternal life.
-
The Gospel is not a message of facts and ideas, it is a message of a relationship.
